Dear Resident
You are receiving this letter because you live in the vicinity of a burglary attempt on Westminster Gardens, which occurred in the early hours of Monday 27 April, at approximately 03:45hrs. CCTV has captured four youths attending the address, believed to be in a stolen or cloned vehicle. The individuals were seen using a metal bar or similar tool to try to prise open a roller shutter garage door. Thankfully, entry was not gained and nothing was stolen. This incident may be linked to a previous burglary in the same area approximately one month ago, during which a motorcycle was stolen. Enquires are ongoing.
We would ask residents to consider the following: 1. CCTV / Doorbell CamerasIf you have CCTV or a video doorbell, please check for any recorded activity between 03:15hrs and 04:15hrs on Monday 27 April, and report any suspicious footage to the police.
2. Door & Lock SecurityIf your property has composite or uPVC doors, particularly those fitted with cylinder locks, please take a moment to check their condition and security. Ensure you are satisfied that your locks are: We recommend 3‑star cylinder locks, which will have three stars marked on the face of the lock and are TS007 or SS312 rated (see example image). Many locksmiths and DIY retailers supply these anti‑snap locks. Whilst we do not wish to alarm residents, it is always sensible to review your home security and remain vigilant. Please report any suspicious behaviour immediately. If you have any information relating to this incident or the previous burglary, please contact the police on 101. Thank you for your cooperation. Kind regards,
